An eclipse, books and lots of food

Welcome back to the Peach Patch newsletter! Check out my previous newsletters here!

Sorry I missed sending last week's Peach Patch! I had a lot going on and just couldn't make the time before last Sunday to send one out. In the last 2 weeks we saw an eclipse in NY and I got to explore some new neighborhoods!

To get lost in a sea of books

I ventured to the Upper West Side to check out this vintage bookstore and it was so worth the short trip there. It's filled to the brim with great second-hand books and has such a cozy vibe. Sophie and I had a blast checking it out but being a second-hand bookstore, it didn't have some of the newer releases I was looking for. If you want to know what books I'm reading come join stream and let's talk books!

There's just something about the possibility of so many journeys in these pages that makes me so happy. I could spend an entire afternoon in here but sadly there's no spots to sit and read. Still love it though!

Sun's out, glasses on

Sophie and I ran up to my rooftop in time to catch the eclipse and the entire building had the same idea. It was packed up there! But we were lucky to make new friends who had a spare set of eclipse glasses. It didn't get completely dark in NY but it was super cool to see the moon move in front of the sun through the glasses. Felt kind of spooky when it got darker! I heard it went completely dark in some cities, that must be such a strange experience and I hope to witness one myself soon!

After the eclipse, I was out running some errands and this little dog figurine was in my uber, it's too cute. I need to get one of Sophie!

Exploring starts with food!

One of the best things about living in New York is the access to so many different great cuisines. I went to an Italian seafood restaurant with a friend and it was really good! I went to dinner straight after a hair appointment for my curls (can you tell?) and I'm pretty happy with how they turned out especially after a couple days when the curls softened. This first dish was a lobster pasta and it was super fresh!

The second dish was a smoked-yellowtail pasta/dumpling situation with a brown butter sauce and it was spectacular. The smokiness of the fish went really well with the creamy sauce. This was probably my favorite of the two pastas.

We had a few small plates too but the pastas were my favorite for sure. For dessert we split a pistachio gelato and a chocolate raspberry cake. The gelato was pretty good, nice and creamy but not too sweet. The chocolate cake wasn't my favorite, the raspberry tasted a little artificial for me. But I'm still glad I tried it!

Later in the week I met up with a few friends and we got Yakitori which is a Japanese grilled skewer cuisine. I love eating with more people so we get to try a bunch of things! Here's the first round of skewers we got. My favorite were the quail eggs wrapped in bacon, near the bottom right. Not pictured are the two bowls of white rice I ate with all my skewers!

And last but certainly not least, my baby Sophie just turned 4 years old! I can't believe how quickly that happened. She'll be a baby forever in my heart! Sophie got a nice steak treat and a pup-cup at a cafe for her celebrations. Instead of a traditional birthday pic, here is Sophie being a loaf of bread LOL waiting for us to leave the apartment. She's such a goofball and I love her with all my heart. Happy birthday little girl!

I'll leave you with this hilarious one of her having too much in the grass. From Sophie and me, we hope you have a wonderful week ahead and take the time to play in the grass.
